Solid action. Weak story.

Note: The storyline plot. While part of the story takes place in a prison, it is a small part. Most is before & after that. It is not a WIP film.Pretty good action which is the main reason to watch. Etsuko Shihomi stars as Maki, the title character and she rarely disappoints when it comes to fighting & action. Although here, at times the fighting is the cliche progression of opponents used in many movies. The story is just okay which takes this down from an excellent film to decent. They just use a ridiculous, unrealistic method (Sorry, no spoilers) to segue into the next scenes to move the story to where it's going during the first third of the movie. Everything after is okay though but it made the early section much less enjoyable. This would be classified as a pinky violence film. But I would not consider it a Pinku Eiga as it's often listed. There is limited nudity & other pinku prerequisites that it does not meet.

Does the job

Another action vehicle for Etsuko Shihomi, here appearing in something approaching a girl gang movie - they're even called the Stray Cats! Aside from that early plotting it's business as usual, with Shihomi up against a vicious Yakuza gang who think nothing of turning innocents into drug-addled prostitutes. It's a film that gets more violent as it progresses, as the stakes raise, leading to a typically frenetic and bloody climax. The action is wall-to-wall and enjoyable and the running time is short, so there's little to dislike. Not a top tier production, but it does the job.
