When Nightmares Strike at the Witching Hour

Stylish and eerie, 3 A. M. 3D delivers three supernatural tales set at the hour when fear feels most alive, though its scares don't always land with equal impact.The Thai horror anthology presents three stories linked by their timing at 3 a.m.-a moment steeped in superstition as the gateway between the living and the dead. The first tale, The Wig, follows a haunted hair extension in a wig shop. The Corpse Bride tells of an undertaker forced to marry the ghost of a dead woman. O. T. Leans into dark comedy, where office workers' pranks backfire with terrifying consequences.The film's strength lies in its variety and 3D visuals. The use of depth and perspective effectively enhances jump scares, particularly in confined settings such as morgues and offices. Each segment reflects a different tone-from Gothic dread to satirical humor-keeping the anthology dynamic. Performances are engaging, with standout moments in The Corpse Bride, which effectively balances tragedy and terror.However, the anthology suffers from inconsistency. The Wig feels predictable, while O. T. struggles to balance comedy and horror. The reliance on familiar tropes sometimes undermines the creative potential of its premise. Despite this, the film succeeds in providing accessible chills with cultural twists unique to Thai folklore and urban legends.Rating: 6/10 - A visually engaging horror anthology with inventive moments, though uneven execution keeps it from being a standout in the genre.

Just another generic horror anthology...

This 2012 horror anthology from Thailand proved to be entertaining enough, albeit it was somewhat generic and predictable."3 A.M." have three tales to offer, which are of various entertainment value and interest, of course. Personally, I must admit that I liked "The Wig" segment with the wig shop the most, although it was perhaps also the most commonly used of all horror elements in Asian horror cinema.The second segment, titled "Corpse Bride", was interesting, although it was just way too predictable, which resulted in the story becoming somewhat trivial and mundane to sit through. It was nicely acted though, and definitely had the most interesting of special effects and make-up effects.The third and final segment, titled "O.T." was the least interest of all the three tales, as its storyline was just downright unappealing to me. It felt too comical and childish, and I found it to be not really fitting into the frame of the previous two segments.The acting was adequate throughout all the segments.For a horror anthology then "3 A.M." ultimately didn't really carve out a place for itself, because it was ultimately just too mundane and chances are that once you've seen it, you will quickly forget about it.My rating of "3 A.M." lands on a very mediocre five out of ten stars.
