Average - in all aspects. Younger kids may like it more.

Richard the Stork 2 (also known as A Stork's Journey: Goodbye Africa) is a vibrant, high-energy sequel that attempts to balance a moral lesson about greed with a fast-paced adventure. While it successfully builds on the "identity crisis" of its sparrow-stork protagonist, the film often struggles to find a consistent tone between its earnest themes and its over-the-top comedy. The Strengths: Visuals and ValuesFollowing the first film's lead, the animation is bright and colorful, capturing the "sandy African" landscapes with enough charm to keep younger audiences engaged. At its core, the film offers a valuable message for children: the idea that the "greatest treasures" aren't material gems, but the experiences and friendships we gain along the way. This theme of valuing the journey over the destination gives the story a much-needed emotional anchor. The Weaknesses: Character and ChaosHowever, the movie isn't without its turbulence. Richard, while meant to be a brave underdog, can frequently come across as reckless and ungrateful. His drive to prove himself often crosses the line into arrogance, particularly when his stunts put his adopted family at risk. This makes him a difficult protagonist to root for at times. The supporting cast is equally polarizing:Kiki the Parakeet: His transition from disco to hip-hop provides a high-energy soundtrack, but the repetitive musical cues may test the patience of older viewers.Olga the Owl: Her subplot involving an imaginary friend and an evil peacock's mirror is imaginative, though it occasionally feels like it belongs in a different, more surreal movie. The VerdictThe film's humor is hit-or-miss, ranging from standard slapstick to bizarre, "out-of-nowhere" moments-like the infamous bus scene-that provide genuine, if confused, laughter.Ultimately, Richard the Stork 2 is a harmless, colorful diversion. It isn't a "cinematic gem" that will change the landscape of animation, but it isn't a disaster either. It is a middle-of-the-road sequel that works best when it focuses on its heart rather than its frantic humor.

Another sequel NOBODY asked for

This was the next movie after A Stork's Journey, which wasn't very good to begin with. Richard, a sparrow with an identity crisis, who believes he is a stork. Yeah... really. He is probably the most annoying, ungrateful character in an animation film. But let's not forget the parakeet that is coming out, and sings the disco song REPEATEDLY to make sure you know. Because what's a children's movie without a queen in it? So this one finds them in some sandy African country and Richard has to pass a test to prove he is ready to lead the flock, but he does an extremely dangerous stunt, rising the life of his adopted brother. Yet he thinks he should have won. It gets worse from there. The parakeet becomes a hiphop singer? The owl with the imaginary friend loses the friend in a mirror controlled by an evil peacock. The only time I actually laughed or responded at all was the part with the bus. It was horrible, and I can't believe I laughed, but it literally came out of nowhere! I was just stunned, really. So that's the top bit, the bus. If you are forced to watch this, and I have the utmost sympathy for you if you should, you will see what I mean. The bus! Haha.
