Distracted by Puffer Fish Pout

This movie is a decent cover of the case, though very limited in its coverage. It would have had to be a series to cover the case thoroughly, so it's a really shortened version. But the main frustration with watching it is that it's impossible to pay attention to anything other than the lead actress's overly Botox'd lips and the way she continually pokes them out.

Excellent subject matter, should have been a TV series

If someone is interested in true crime then they should go watch the actual Karen Read trial(s). That said, there was a good opportunity to produce a good dramatization of the events, albeit with some problems.The first problem is one of time. There isn't enough time in 90 minutes to tell the story. Every bit of the story is rushed, important topics are dropped, and key people are omitted. They didn't even show the second trial.Another problem with this production is how to present the uncertainty of what happened. They probably should have shown multiple versions of what they think could have happened, just like the dramatization of The Staircase did. Of course, then they would need to make this a multi-episode TV series.The casting and production values were good. The subject matter is infinitely interesting so this is still watchable, but it would have been much better as a comprehensive series.
