Many more things could have been shown better.

Amazon Obhijaan: A Grand but Flawed Adventure Amazon Obhijaan, the sequel to the successful Bengali film Chander Pahar, is an ambitious cinematic spectacle that takes explorer Shankar (Dev) deep into the Amazon rainforest in search of the mythical City of Gold, El Dorado. The film's primary strength lies in its stunning cinematography and the courage of the filmmakers to mount a regional film on such a grand, international scale, featuring exotic real-world locations. The visuals of the Amazon and its waterways are genuinely impressive and represent a new benchmark for Bengali cinema.However, the execution struggles to match the scale. The VFX and CGI, particularly for the numerous jungle creatures and action sequences, are often glaringly substandard, detracting significantly from the immersion and believability of the adventure. The screenplay and dialogue also draw considerable criticism, with many finding the narrative slow, overly explanatory, and at times illogical, turning Shankar's journey into an often boring and dramatically insipid experience.While Dev maintains his explorer persona with conviction, the supporting characters and their motivations often feel clumsy or stereotypical. The film has been praised for its sheer ambition and technical effort (like the sound design), but ultimately, its poor writing and patchy special effects prevent it from achieving the epic, thrilling adventure it aspired to be. It's a visually lush but fundamentally flawed journey into the heart of the jungle.

Dang!!! All these one star reviews....

I aim to give 5 stars, I would have given more but one part of the story was not right. The romantic in me says this. An adventure movie, yeah, too many needless deaths by anaconda etc, the scenery was gorgeous, so the 5 stars. I've read the book Chander Pahar many years ago as a kid, so to watch a sequel to that was excellent. But the part, the romantic in me could not understand...Hence only 5 stars and not more, is the dude/hero of the movie, Dev sails off into the sunset at the end. What kind of ending was that????? Didn't he see the spark of love in the girl's eyes??? Comeon!! You spend pretty much the whole movie with the heroine, from India to Amazonia, saving her multiple times from all sorts of dangers, and being with her till the end even after the death of her father, but at the end you sail off to India....leaving her behind. Where was the happy ending???? Bollywood ....if Bollywood made this movie, would have had a happy ending.
