Alrighty then...

Indeed, I had never even heard about this 2025 movie titled "Armed", from writer Terry McDonald and director Neil Mackay, prior to stumbling upon it by random chance. And since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I found the time to check it out.Writer Terry McDonald didn't exactly put together an overly phenomenal script here. Sure, it was a sort of watchable movie, but the narrative was simplistic and left for much to be desired.Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with actor Rick Amsbury. The acting performances in "Armed" were fair.The effects in the movie were fair, and certainly did their fair part to keep the movie afloat.This is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing, should you opt to check it out. Though it is also not a movie that I would actively recommend you to sit down and spend 96 minutes on watching.My rating of director Neil Mackay's 2025 movie "Armed" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Are people rating movies based on their budget? This was decent.

This is not a good movie, but it's OK. Acting is reasonable, the special effects are very few, but used effectively. The story is interesting, even if overly simplistic and you kind of know what will happen from the description and first ten minutes. So it doesn't deserve the low rating on Imdb. Are people looking at the budget and just rating that? Why would you rate 3/10 a movie that has decent acting and story and has mostly pacing issues and 7/10 one that has no story, people are phoning it in, but has big explosions?Anyway, I loved the retro aspect of the film. I wish they would have made it more of a comedy or satire than playing it so seriously. I think as a B-movie it's pretty good, with throwbacks to the 80s productions I was watching when I was a kid. I don't recommend it, but you've got to respect what the film makers did here.

Well worth the rent

I have to say this film was pretty good. It's of those movies that may not top the charts but it's a fun watch from beginning to end and well worth the time, and a movie I would watch more than once. It builds tension the way a movie should. It starts off a little slow but picks up fast and by the end, I don't want to say the typical, your "on the edge of your seat", but it's a fun watch what else can I say. I rented it on Amazon Prime and it was worth the rental which I can't say for a lot of new films. With the new films being more and more of the same all the time, this movie takes me back to the days I would go to the cinema as a kid, and those are fond memories.
