A weird show!

This was put on in my local cinema, I loved Meatloaf's music as a kid so was keen to go. This very much came across as 'am dram' rather than West End/ Broadway. The story makes little sense above a simple level with songs like 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light' clumsily shoe-horned in: it couldn't be left out but had no place in the 'story'. My main gripe was actually the lead, his signing style being so unlike Meatloafs it felt sacrilegious to the artist. Unfortunately this isn't the celebration of Meatlof and Steinman's work I was looking for...

let down by glenn adamson

His was shown at my local cinema, my wife andi love meat loafs music, so we were keen to see it, first half wasnt good, glenn adamson gurning his way through it, his voice is strange he changes notes with abandon,he sounds nothing like meatloaf. The story is annoying i thought it would be meatloafs life, but no its a story which vaguely follows the record, the girl who plays 'raven' has an amazing voice katie tonkinson, shes is the star of the show, the rest of the cast were good as well, but too much manic dancing for no reason, rob fowler, who plays the father also has an amazing voice and is an asset to the show,as is his wife sloane,to some degree, but glenn ruins it, he made me laugh at times, his vioce is all over the place and his gurning, well,

Mediocre

The great music of Meat Loaf and Bat Out of Hell deserve better than this. It's an entertaining enough musical show, but lacks a truly professional touch. The choices for the main singing roles were odd, all singing in a kind of C&W whiny nasal style, Rob Fowler being the notable exception. It was hard at times to see how the songs and dance routines fitted into the storyline. Anyway, it was energetic, so full marks for effort.
