An Underrated Gem of Crime, Comedy, and Clever Storytelling

First of all, this movie is seriously underrated, The cast is top-tier, with first-class actors like John Travolta, Uma Thurman, The Rock, and Vince Vaughn. Their performances weren't Oscar-worthy, but everyone delivered beautifully.Second, Linda Moon (Christina Milian) has an amazing voice, and the songs she performed in the movie were truly wonderful.There wasn't a single dull moment in the movie. It had action, crime, light comedy, and a sweet touch of romance.The plot didn't have many gaps (except for the part where Sin LaSalle gave up the money), but other than that, it was well-woven, featuring the Russian mafia, the black mafia, and Nick Carr's crew.The way they tied all the loose ends together at the end was perfect.That's why it's strange that the movie received such a negative rating.To me, the movie is brilliant. The way the events unfolded at the end and how all the threads connected was incredible.There wasn't a single detail that felt unnecessary. Every word and every scene played a role in reaching the logical conclusion-unlike other movies with meaningless side plots.

Not Get Shorty, but not a disaster either

The sequel to Get Shory has Chili Palmer taking on the music business. Its not as good as the first film, but if taken on its own is a good time passer.The problem here is two fold. First the film has a running gag about hating sequels, which would be fine if it was just a joke and didn't extend to the film making. Few of the actors in this film seem to be doing more than walking through the film for the cash or as a joke and it shows. The second problem is that there is way way too much going on and way too many people doing it. It seems to me that every time that someone of note shows up the movie has to stop to give them their couple of minutes on screen. Usually the material is decent, but it slows the pace down. I kept wanting to speed things up.That said I did like the film, but regret having paid movie theater prices to do so. This is a rental, not something you pay ten bucks to see. If you get the chance to rent it or see it on cable give it a shot. Just don't expect an equal to Get Shorty.
