A film not to be missed

Saw this movie yesterday at a screening in Utica, New York where this film was filmed and I was very impressed by first time director, writer and producer Gabriel Kahane's work. Benji is a lawbreaking teenager who is ordered to work community service at a wig shop for cancer patients. There he meets Susan the kind hearted shop owner and a mysterious female co-worker who alters the course of his life. His home life is as bleak as can be with his alcoholic drug using mother and a father nowhere to be seen. How did Benji get himself in this predicament to begin with?This film is beautifully filmed with great acting by all involved. This film is a must see.

great movie

Definitely worth the watch! It's clear that this film was created with soul and passion. From the raw relationship dynamics to the relatability of the main character, the acting really pulls everything together. The director did an amazing job navigating the heavy themes of depression and trauma, making the film that much more relatable and emotionally suspenseful. Overall, an overwhelming engaging and impactful experience.

Just another day in upstate New York :)

Beautifully shot, and written with brutal yet palpable empathy. Gabriel's first feature film is a rare slice of slice that finds beauty in not only a person, but a community of people that so often don't feel seen at all.The young writer/director brings a refreshing realism to not only the dialogue, but philosophy and perspectives of the Gen Z aged characters in the film.The film is indie with a capital I in all of the best ways. You can feel the weight, intimacy, and care that was present for every shot, every moment, and every beat.Very excited for future projects :)
