Great Artist, Mediocre Doc

Billy deserved better. While there are some excellent moments in this film, overall it's choppy and a bit all over the place. For a main character so full of charisma, the doc itself lacks it. That's not on the subject but the director. It felt no like a long VH1 special rather than a feature film, which is a shame. There are plenty of wild stories and you do get to see the Billy Idol of today who I can personally attest is a great human being despite all that he has been through. I was lucky enough to get to briefly hang out with Billy once and he couldn't have been nicer to everyone there, when he didn't need to be. He went around the room to say hello to everyone (even the crew of which I was a part), made sure everyone got an autograph if they wanted one and posed for pictures as well. All after a kick ass show. Good dude, just wish he had got a better tribute with this doc. Good but not great.

Best music documentary ever!!!

I loved Billy Idol since I was 17 and was lucky enough to see him in concert once. I loved his daredevil persona and sexy locks, his raunchy voice and pretty much everything else about him. This documentary shows the real man behind Billy Idol as he reveals his drug addiction, the many near death moments, including his near fatal motorcycle accident. It is so personal and deeply intimate with him sitting next to his mom and talking about his dad. The cartoon accompanying the documentary is over the top brilliant and I just absolutely adore the man that is Billy Idol. Kudos to the filmmakers and to Billy forever!
