Good Perspective

I appreciated the documentary most for just bringing the issue to light. Having lived in SC for a brief few years, and having visited Myrtle Beach and Atlantic Beach, I had some firsthand knowledge of the history.The absolute most was the nuggets of truth from Dr. Umar Johnson that blacks in this country are overwhelmingly concerned with their own personally specific interests and do not act collectively. In addition, journalist David Hucks very clearly proclaimed that black bikers really hold the power, which means if the acted collectively, they could demand better treatment during Bike Week.When I last visited Atlantic Beach, there appeared to be some level of gentrification happening. So if black people don't act soon, Atlantic Beach will be developed, over-priced, and be more like Myrtle Beach.

Family Connections

My maternal are natives of Myrtle Beach. Atlantic Beach was the only place people of color could go to. I remember stories you could not go to the beach in the city of Myrtle Beach if you were not a maid or nanny for white family. Thank you for this documentary. I've have told family who go to Black week, keep tradition at Atlantic Beach. Myrtle Beach do not need our revenue. Let's honor our black beaches and keep our tradition. Also, Horry County need to allocate funds to Atlantic Beach and those attending Black Beach week need to boycott Myrtle Beach. The Harley's refuse to come to Myrtle Beach and are now having their week in Surfsde.
