Subtle and enjoyably human

It seems like the movie thematically speaking is very culturally specific. I loved how the island of Cronos was used as the setting for all the characters of different backgrounds and personalities to come together. Cronos feels like a forgotten island rich with culture that is one step away from being colonised by capitalist vultures. And to me the film felt deeply human expressing the importance and value of our sense of community with each other. It shows you how turning everything into a money making tourist attraction easily kills our ability to appreciate each other's cultures, differences and the actual land they step on. It wasn't the beach or the alcohol that made it special, it was the genuine sense of respect, hospitality and the food made by real human hands from someone who knows the land and knows the ingredients.

Chill

The film is the equivalent of consuming Adaem's (the Turkish dude) merchandise, sitting back and watching the sunset over the sea. If you can't enjoy that, you have a problem.
