CUTE ROMANTIC CAPER

Annie (Rachel Leigh Cook) takes the place of her friend at a fancy wellness-self-discovery resort in exotic Malta. She meets Jake, (Luke MacFarlane) and Annie thinks he's just another well to do guest, but then discovers he's a Private Investigator, who received an anonymous tip that a necklace stolen from the Metropolitan Museum of Art is at the resort waiting to be purchased by an unknown buyer. Annie teams up with Jake to investigate and solve the jewelry heist mystery.Rachael Leigh Cook and Luke MacFarlane are two of my favorite Hallmark actors and are perfectly cast and have great chemistry together. The romance is center stage, while the jewelry heist mystery adds a secondary element. This is a cute romantic comedy set in beautiful and scenic Malta. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Perhaps it should become a mystery series.A lot of people point out that Luke MacFarlane is gay so how can he be cast as a straight male romantic lead, he handles it just fine, and does a better job than a lot of the so called Hallmark straight male stars like Tyler Hynes, Stephen Huszar, Kristopher Polaha, Brendan Perry. Luke MacFarlane just has a certain charismatic charm about him that shines through, while others seem to give wooden performances or appear to just be reading their lines!

Hallmark Agatha Christie

A mix of Nine Perfect Strangers, The White Lotus, and Agatha Christie, but no murder. We have a beautiful locale, an eclectic group, our couple, and a mystery. Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That) has still got it, and Luke Macfarlane exudes masculine energy, but he's gay. Knowing this might deter some peeps to view them as a convincing couple, but I thought they were cute and worked well together. They're on the poster so expect them to occupy most of the screen time. It is a neat "whodunnit" story, but the breathtaking scenery alone is worth the watch, and of course our lovely couple. If you love these two then you'll definitely enjoy this one, but if not then you might find them a bore, with Before Sunrise (1995) extensive dialogue.
