No chemistry means no romance

Rose Reid has talent, and is enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately the writers gave her very little to work with. The script took over 40 minutes to get on it's feet. Up to that point much of the dialog was awkward, and delivered rather poorly. Rosemary finally starts to show some spark about halfway through, and she and the story begin to feel more natural. The supporting actors are adequate at best, with the exception of Elizabeth Cappuccino as Erin, who is a breath of fresh air in a movie in desperate need of some better acting. The direction and editing were not up to par either. The lack of chemistry between Reid and Jake Allyn is painfully obvious, making much of the movie uncomfortable to watch.Sadly, after a bit of life midway through, the movie settled back into its uninspiring early doldrums. The finish was no better.Great American Family should give Rose Reid a better movie. The audience should find another movie to watch. Even completists can miss this one without guilt.2025 GAF C-

Stiff acting for formulaic story

Formula: Successful woman, Rosemary, gets call from home that mom sprained her foot and dad needs help at the store. So Rosemary leaves in the middle of developing and important pitch for her company. She meets a guy, William, who is voluntarily helping her dad and at the church. He lacks confidence in his business prospects. They proceed to help each other both concretely and emotionally. The story proceeds clumsily (i.e. In a "clunky" way). The acting is fair to poor. Rose Reid is probably the smoothest. The actors as Rosemary's parents are poor. Jake Allyn as William is stiff and yes looks like he is thinking too much about his lines rather than just being natural. As is common with story's on this network, no one is mean or bad - her partner just casually accepts her being away at this crucial time and in fact pushes her to do so.Also common with this network, as others have pointed out, the background music is distracting, although in this movie not nearly as bad as the previous one I watched. This is a faith based network and much of the story revolves around the local church including much prayer and spiritual advice. But I am a little uncomfortable with the message of the movie itself. It's not a spoiler to say that the movie closes with a service where people give thanks for ongoing prayers in their lives. It would be easy to take this and see God as someone who simply answers our prayers. One character even makes a statement of "what Christmas is about" concluding that it is about "peace, joy, and maybe to love..." I deliberately over-simplify what she is trying to say even though I quote exact phrases, but my point is that here we have another movie telling us "what Christmas is about" but missing the true message of the coming of Christ.Even without my objection to the faith message, this movie is not a good one.

5.4 stars. This film feels good at times, although it's clunky. It's obviously a Christian production with the constant praying and religious conversations and church setting. The actors are amateurs, with awkward timing and wooden performances all around. The lead actress is average, and that is the extent of talent. The dad and mom are putting forth effort to seem like humans. The lead male is deliberate in his approach, he takes it slow and steady and so he comes across as somewhat charming, but definitely amateurish. All the other secondary characters are clumsy, but mostly beautiful people.Overall this production is low budget and it cannot be camouflaged. The dialogue is not stimulating and is barely recognizable as Hallmark-adjacent. The lead female is beautiful, even if her skills are low-average, but she has some attractive moments. The lead male is engaging and somewhat charismatic, but needs a lot of work. On a positive note, the other production aspects are not bad, such as the editing and cinematography. In contrast, the script is terrible and the music is not inviting, but is a loud mood-killer, which significantly detracts from the atmosphere. This is the main reason I feel that 'Christmas on Every Page' is not an entertaining watch. But even if the music was spectacular, there would be no salvaging it.There is barely any emotional impact or significant appeal to this film, but what can be expected from such a low-budget and unskilled production? Of course, nobody can really guess how a cookie-cutter Christmas movie will turn out, because sometimes even low budget movies get lucky -- just not this one.
