A Christmas movie by the book

"Christmas on the Alpaca Farm" has all the typical Christmas movie ingredients one expects from this type of movie: The widowed father with his child, who has almost given up on love and is completely overwhelmed by his job and raising this child. His daughter, who longs for nothing more than for her father to be happy and for Christmas to regain its former magic. The overly ambitious single woman whose life is turned upside down by some special event. A project that brings the main characters together. Initial difficulties and misunderstandings that could derail the entire project and the developing romance. And finally, the great love that blossoms between the two.In this sense, "Christmas on the Alpaca Farm" is nothing special. A typical Christmas movie. Unfortunately, even the two lead actors can't save the movie. The father seems cold and bored, and one just doesn't believe the fashion designer has ever held a pen or needle in her life. Furthermore, as is so often the case in these kinds of movies, only a short time is available for the joint project, but everyone still has plenty of time to bake, decorate the house for Christmas, or go shopping. In the end, everyone is happy again - both professionally and personally - because, of course, everything goes exactly according to plan. A happy ending by the book.

I Need More Alpacas Right the Frick Now!

Not enough alpaca scenes. Too many human. Not enough fashion. More alpacas. When I get promised Christmas on an alpaca farm, I wanna see alpacas. A lot of them. In more than five scenes. Humans got in the way. (Apparently so did plot.) Where are the alpacas?? Oh there the are - oh now they're gone. More alpacas!!!

Very much the usual stuff

This movie depends on the usual tropes with little to set it apart except perhaps the timing of those tropes. Aspiring city girl designer, Jessica, quits her job because her boss won't go "sustainable" enough. She goes to the Alpaca farm run by the handsome widower, Andrew. He has to sell the farm because of a setback with Jessica's firm. He resists Jessica's offer to help save the farm by entering a contest. That resistance goes on longer than I thought worthwhile. But then after he agrees, he puts up with Jessica's mistakes which cost him time and money far longer than I would have expected.Andrew has trust issues which is why he resists the offer. He also has a daughter, Georgia. Like so many of this type of movie, Jessica and Georgia bond. Jessica even makes Georgia a costume for the pageant. Both leads are nagged by those close to them to fall in love with the other. There is even a short snowball fight (my favorite cliche trope). Have we checked all the trope boxes yet? As the story proceeds, many predictable things happen, although one big one that usually comes late takes place around half way. That leads to the conflict which I saw coming early on. This conflict is also a bit earlier than usual. The acting is OK but Kirsten Comerford had far more chemistry with Ai Barrett than Matt Wells. The dialogue was also OK but nothing special. What the viewer sees of the Alpacas is nice. This movie is not bad. It's just common. It will not satisfy viewers looking for something more than all the usual stuff but may work for those who just want that.
