Great trailer, not a good movie

Clika ended up being a pretty major letdown, especially because it looked like it had the potential to be something much more engaging based on the previews. Sometimes a trailer sells you a whole meal and the actual movie shows up as a dry cracker on a paper plate. That is kind of what happened here. There is a version of this film that could have worked, but the one that made it to the screen just never develops into anything memorable or emotionally satisfying. The biggest issue is the screenplay. It feels rough, undercooked, and strangely repetitive, like the movie keeps circling the same emotional or narrative space without ever pushing itself into deeper territory. Instead of building momentum or finding a stronger dramatic rhythm, it mostly just sits there and slowly drains its own energy. That makes the experience feel much longer and flatter than it probably needed to be.A lot of the film also suffers from feeling too generic. There is nothing wrong with using lesser-known actors if the material is strong enough to support them, but here the performances are not given much to elevate. Without a sharper script or more compelling character work, the cast ends up feeling swallowed by a movie that never gives them much of a chance to stand out. It is not necessarily that the acting is terrible. It is more that the whole thing feels like it is missing the spark that would make any of it click.Even the music, which could have helped give the film more identity or emotional weight, does not do it any favors. Instead of adding atmosphere or helping scenes land harder, it mostly blends into the same flat tone that drags the rest of the movie down. That is a real problem when the film needs every possible tool working in its favor.Overall, Clika is not just disappointing because it is bad. It is disappointing because it feels like it could have been better and simply never gets there. It had enough promise to raise expectations, but not enough execution to meet them. In the end, it comes off as bland, underdeveloped, and ultimately not something I would recommend.

Nothing original

This movie was just too cliche for me as I have seen a LOT of movies and many like this. I can see this really appealing to the younger generation especially Mexicans as it represents the youth. But I have seen so many movies like this all done by other ethnicities too. The young buck wants to make it in the industry yes passionate about, but hardships force him into the life of drugs, he gets the girl, he helps the family, something goes wrong, everybody hates him for a while, he fixes up, makes amends, finally makes it legally pursuing his dreams, and everyone lives happily ever after! This formula has been repeated countless times, but nonetheless was entertaining enough.
