Great independent film

I don't like watching a lot of movies cause I find that the stories are not as fleshed out as in the TV shows but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I feel for Cole, he certainly deserves more and is stuck in this rut/situation that he can't seem to get out of. A shame that his sister needed that man and was willing to let her first child go for bobby. If she cut him loose she would still be doing as much as work as she is doing when he is around cause bobby was a no good waste of space. Sad that there are women like this in real life who can't seem to live without a man even though their situation is so toxic. Like how can you take bobby back after he just tried to rape the girlfriend of your brother.

Good small town drama

Cole is the story of young man looking to break out of a small town and make a better life for himself. It's a familiar story that has been done many times before however it is well filmed and manages to hold your interest throughout. This is in no small way down to a strong performance from the likable Richard De Klerk who carries the film. It's a clash of cultures as the poor boy and the rich girl overcome the inevitable problems a difference in social status brings. It is fairly predictable in that the usual clichés are here drunken rednecks, over protective parents etc but the acting performances are strong enough to get over this issue. Although it plays as a long episode of a soap, Cole has enough drama to make it a really enjoyable film. Well worth a watch.
