Generic violent poker film

With no expectations of this film and seeing how it has a straight to video release, there wasn't much to the film. Perhaps more so for fans of poker films but this film felt very generic and predictable. The end outcome could have been done better but its twist reveal wasn't exactly shocking or memorable in the least bit. Simply a film which moves around with slight different locations and different characters but in the end, it becomes rather violent. The problem is we don't necessarily care for the characters or even know much about them. Simply by the numbers.

They didn't know how to end it

I rate the movie as a 6 but the ending is a 0 so the average comes out to be 3. As a whole the film isn't that bad, somewhat predictable but overall not the worst movie made. The problem comes at the end which seems like they just didn't know how to end it so they came up with something completely nonsensical.

A classic

This movie is definitely under valued. Acting is solid and characters are entertaining. I think it's got enough heat to become a classic although it seems it may need to marinade a few years before it catches on. If you're a poker player I think it's a must watch as it lends itself enough poker credibility to be captivating to a common player (albeit an occasional over usage and representation of the word GTO) while also being sufficiently juicy for any non poker player. I would knock the film perhaps on some plot related metric but with the action and pace of the film those grievances are easily over looked. Overall if you're on the fence I'd say just watch it and thank me later.
