Plot summary

When Irene gets suspended, she must endure two weeks of community service at a retirement home. Following her passion for cheerleading, she secretly signs up the senior residents to audition for a dance-themed reality show to prove that you don't need to be physically "perfect" to be perfectly AWESOME.

Predictable but some laughs

Raunchy humor. Very predictable story throughout. The cast did a good job but the writing wasn't great. Some jokes were written very well, and delivered perfectly -- but plenty of jokes fell flat. I wouldn't recommend this movie as anything but background noise.I also kept thinking how similar this movie is to Dumplin' (fat teen who can't relate to her mother, finds comfort in a celebrity etc.) and felt this movie just ripped that one off, but this movie was actually released many months before Dumplin'.

Fun, that's all i can say.

Easy storyline, good performance from the character. if ruth have part as much as irene it would be more good i think. haha if you need some movie to start your day in a good way, this may be one of them.

Cute high school film

Geena Davis is a narrator slash hero to the protagonist in the film. A heavy girl who wants to fit in and be a cheerleader but just isn't popular or thin enough to be on the team.Geena tells her throughout the film that it doesn't matter what her outside looks like, because her inside is more important.This kind of goes along with Geena's real world work, as she is a person who supports girls and women in education and acting.The young lady ends up having to do after school suspension at the next door old folks home...and everything just works out perfectly. It is very cookie cutter after school special.The bullies get their come-uppens. The girl gets her happy ending. The old folks practically become her adopted family. The amount of sugar is diabetic.
