The Chemistry That Never Fades

As a proud batang '90s, seeing Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin reunite on screen in Ex Ex Lovers felt like opening a time capsule of my childhood. Their love team was a huge part of my growing-up years and the nostalgia this film brought was truly priceless.The Chemistry That Never Fades Even after decades, Jolina and Marvin's chemistry is still undeniable. They've always had that rare ability to make audiences feel kilig and this movie proves they've never lost that spark. While we all know they never became a couple in real life, you can still sense the admiration, respect, and perhaps unspoken affection between them. Something that makes their partnership so authentic.At its core, Ex Ex Lovers is a typical Pinoy family-love story, full of heartfelt drama, laughter, and tender moments. What makes it resonate is the bittersweet truth it portrays: "sometimes, love just ain't enough". You can't force a relationship to work when it's not meant to be. Yet, the film beautifully reminds us that friendship, forgiveness, and respect can outlive romantic love.The Star-Studded 90s Reunion What added another layer of nostalgia was the participation of Judy Ann Santos, Mylene Dizon, Dominic Ochoa, and Giselle Töngi. Seeing all these 90s icons together in one film was like a mini-reunion of the era we loved so much. It felt like revisiting our younger years, only this time with grown-up lessons about love and life.New Generation Twist The addition of Loisa Andalio and JK Labajo gave the film a younger perspective, though admittedly, their chemistry didn't quite hit the mark. Still, they provided contrast to the seasoned cast and helped show the generational differences in love and relationships.Themes That Hit Home One of the most striking lessons the movie highlights is that marriage is not something to rush. It's not like hot rice you can just spit out when it burns you. Commitment is serious, and timing matters. A beautiful crowd pleaser tragedy

Direct JP Habac is really one of the best RomCom directors of this generation. " Ex Ex Lovers" delivers a great RomCom movie that even non-fans of Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin love team can enjoy. It's a movie with a mixture of escapism, nostalgia and realistic ending. Bravo!!!!Joy (Jolina Magdangal) travels to Valletta, Malta to reunite with her ex-husband, Ced ( Marvin Agustin) just to ask her ex-husband to walk her daughter to the aisle on her wedding day. Along the way, things get complicated as they face their unresolved past.The trailer gives away the surprise actors. It's nice to see Judy Ann Santos, Mylen Dizon , G Tongi and Dominic Ochoa in this film as it adds nostalgia even if their roles are cameos. I have no problem with the whole movie. The direction and cinematography are great. The acting, I think they all stand up.Overall, "Ex Ex Lovers" is one of the best Filipino RomCom of 2025! It's a beautiful crowd-pleaser tragedy.
