Plot summary

Theo is living the good life in an upscale Brazilian neighborhood. He’s a hardworking doctor, husband, and father. However, Theo has chosen his career over his family, and little by little he discovers that his world is crumbling around him. His beloved mentor and surrogate father is dying, and his wife announces that she wants a divorce. Yet nothing prepares him for the day when he comes home to discover that his 15-year-old son, Pedro, has disappeared. Theo takes to the road in search of his son. In a journey that leads him throughout Brazil, Theo discovers what really matters to him. Searching for his missing son, Theo finds himself.

A good story

A good story is not its storyline, a story is its theme. The theme may hide behind the plot and only gradually show up.This movie tells a good story. Its storyline follows a father who is looking for his runaway son. The theme behind it is the structure of the Brazilian society, the separation of the bourgeois class from the poor, the destitute, the hopeless. You should see it, even if it's only the Portuguese version. No, you should try to see it just because it IS the Portuguese version.

Family drama thriller road movie

Very good drama thriller road movie, with nice script and excellent actors. Delicate, moving and well paced. Quite underrated!

where did junior go??

Father's chair (the 2012 one!) in brazil, it's a busca...which is "the search". Wagner moura is theo, who is fighting with his wife and also his son. The familiy seems to be coming apart, and everyone just yells at the top of their lungs. So son pedro takes off. And when the parentals realize he's gone away, they get frantic. Even his friends don't know where he's gone! Of course, it's every parent's nightmare. But kids run away. And he might be teaching them a lesson. But... theo gets so desperate looking for pedro, he does bad things along the way. But he's a father, trying so hard to find his son. It's pretty good. Long pauses, in dialog and in action. Not for the impatient! Directed by luciano moura. Can't help but notice the same last name on the director and the lead here. This appears to be the only film they have made together. It could be a very common family name for all i know.
