A 1 hour story that that takes over 2 hours

There is some action at times, but the movie mostly plods along very slowly. I like westerns but this one kept being interrupted by montages accompanied by some grating western music that made it hard to listen to after a while. If you can fast forward through those parts as well as some of the awful and slow dialogue, you might enjoy the action scenes. If not, try a real Clint Eastwood movie instead of a movie with someone trying to look/act like Clint.

just ok

Their is nothing really bad about this, everything is just ok. There is something a little off about the acting which is probably caused by the script but overall its ok, its a very standard cowboy wild west sort of movie, very predicable. For some reason I did not feel I had wasted my time watching this and didn't get bored, so it is recommended but nothing special.I found the centre action a bit contrived, the "Indian" engagement is a bit ridiculous and unnecessary it felt more like ticking boxes rather than any progression or development in the story.Technically the west for settlers were more in danger from white people and nature than the Native Americans, but Westerns never seem to go there rather just bring in the locals. It is also nuts that that the MC doesn't just kill them all instead relies on plot armour. In reality there is no way people would risk their lives over and over against people who obviously are happy and about to kill them.It also sort of ends. There are no real challenges or surprises or really dangerous moments, the MC is always in control and is just slowly making his way through a script.

Zahler?

I have a hard time believing S. Craig Zahler co-wrote this. Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99, and Dragged Across Concrete are among my favorite movies of all time. Frontier Crucible is just bad and really has none of Zahler's hallmarks. He must've gotten a no-show writing credit. This is way beneath him.
