Very strange and unusual "art movie"

I should have read the reviews first. I didn't realize that this movie is more of a very disjointed and confusing stream of scenes which is a quite hard to follow and make sense of. It is so difficult to be sure of the actual story line due to the presentation. It is sort of like some hallucination, a confused dream maybe, kind of reminded me of the movie The Blair Witch project, and most of it is also in black and white. It was quite tedious, and I didn't like the Blair Witch Project at all either. I stuck with it till the end and the details aren't clear but it seems the writer overcomes his block and is back in business.I can't recommend this movie for anybody looking to watch an actual movie. It is kind of an art film project where the visual effects and a type of poetry and literary sentences have been orchestrated to simulate the mess that might be going on inside a troubled mind. It's art, not really a "movie" as one would expect. I didn't enjoy it and wish I didn't see it. I gave it 2 stars, one for the effort and creativity and another for the acting and a bit of humor...

Instant psychodelic classic

Eerie and eclectic. Jay Duplass is perfect as an Everyman trapped in a suspenseful web of forbidden desire and vaulting ambition on an Atlantic island in winter.Kate Lyn Sheil (Sun Don't Shine, Tomorrow She Dies) and Maria Dizzia (Christine, Martha Marcy May Marlene) are excellent and mysterious. I also loved seeing Henry Fool and Book of Life's Thomas Jay Ryan in a Faustian role. The mix of sound and picture is unlike anything I've ever experienced. I wish more films could keep me on the edge of seat like this one. Fans of dark seventies and nineties indies will dig it. Highly recommended.
