Plot summary

A young teenage girl, Katie, can not snap out of her depression after losing her mother. Katie has lost interest in school, her friends, and gymnastics. All that changes in the summer when she is asked to monkeysit Gibby, her science teacher's Capuchin monkey. Taking care of the monkey changes her life in a big way. Gibby's happy-go-lucky personality renews Katie's zest for life. Gibby helps her with gymnastics, renewing friendships (including finding a potential boyfriend) and overcoming her nemesis, a mean girl who is out to beat Katie at everything.

A Capuchin Monkey

Seeing who was in the cast I thought this might have been a film from the Disney Studios. It did feature as the teen male lead Peyton Meyer who stars as the resident hunk on Girl Meets World. It also is as wholesome as a Disney Studio film.Saying that I thought Gibby was a pleasant afternoon's viewing about a young girl Shelby Lyon who at one time was a promising gymnast, but who lost all interest after her Mom passed away. Then when her science teacher is given an opportunity over the summer to work abroad she has to Lyon is picked by her to babysit a Capuchin Monkey named Gibby whom she keeps and studies.Gibby helps a lot in making Lyon laugh and smile again. Maybe she'll also try gymnastics again if for no other reason than to get back at Ysa Penarejo the school's local Cruela DeVille who now rules the girl's athletic roost. She also likes Peyton Meyer who likes Lyon and that's more reason for a war.Nobody's career is going to be hurt by association with Gibby, it's a nice film for the family even if Disney didn't do it.

Family movie

Nice clean movie to watch with the family. No embarrassment or surprises in front of the kids.

I can't believe movies/shows with wild animals are still being made!

This is unacceptable. I don't support this type of entertainment at all.
