"Is Dad John Wick?"

Guns Up is a simple action-comedy that knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be more. Seeing Kevin James in a tougher role is unusual at first, but it works well enough for what the film is aiming for. The action is a bit more violent than expected for a Kevin James movie, though never truly hard-hitting or memorable. The film is carried mostly by its pacing and a few entertaining moments rather than strong characters or emotional depth. Christina Ricci fits naturally into the family setup, while the supporting cast including Luis Guzmán and Joey Diaz stays firmly in the background and does exactly what's required, nothing more. The story is thin, the humor hits inconsistently and the film never builds real tension. Still, the final stretch adds a small twist that slightly elevates the experience and makes the runtime passable.Guns Up isn't ambitious, clever, or particularly memorable but it doesn't need to be. It's a straightforward B-movie you can watch once, switch your brain off, and move on.

Christina Ricci Saves Kevin James' Action Debut

Edward Drake's "Guns Up" delivers exactly what it promises: a lean, mean action-comedy that doesn't overstay its welcome. It's a fun 91 min watch that doesn't take up too much of your time, following the "Nobody"/"John Wick" template of retired killer forced back into action.Kevin James surprises by keeping his usual shtick in check, proving he can handle dramatic weight alongside the quips. But Christina Ricci absolutely steals the show, bringing unexpected depth to what could've been a thankless "worried wife" role. Their unlikely pairing works better than it should. The storyline is engaging but not groundbreaking, with some forced dialogue and predictable twists. However, well-choreographed action sequences and a brisk pace keep things entertaining. Drake knows his B-movie lane and stays in it, delivering marginally more polished work than his usual output. While the plot is predictable, who cares when you've got Kevin James and Christina Ricci packing heat? It's formulaic comfort food that goes down easy - sometimes that's enough.

This movie is absolutely a film that will be watched by people. The characters are played by actors who act out their parts while in character. One thing that most people probably won't point out about this movie is that it has a run time. Kevin James is in it and he's acting, in character. Christina Ricci and Luis Guzman also have parts as their characters who are entwined within the story. The director did his job in directing this film and as you can see he followed it through to completion. One other thing that's worth pointing out is that the location scouts and costume designers for this film also had a job that they did as well. I have to say that I absolutely 100% acknowledge that this is a movie that people worked on and made. Their hard work and dedication may be something that exists for them and that they are proud of. So, if you like movies, this definitely is one.
