Oh my, as soon as I saw that ethereal horse galloping across the screen and the Maverick Entertainment logo appear, I have to admit that my expectations for this 2023 movie went from slim to none. Yeah, Maverick Entertainment aren't exactly known for their stellar movies, now are they? Yet, I still opted to give the movie a fair chance, solely because it was a movie that I had never heard about, and thus obviously also never watched.Writers Denisha Hardeman and Johnnard Harper put together a script and storyline that failed to entertain me. The contents of the storyline was a swing and a miss, and I can't claim that the character gallery was any better.Suffice it to say that I was, of course, not familiar with a single actor or actress. And that was actually something that spoke in overall favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances were fair.While I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as this, I was not in that particular target audience.While Maverick Entertainment definitely have some serious duds in their repertoire, "H-Town" at least was a step up from many of their former movies.My rating of director Johnnard Harper's 2023 movie "H-Town" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
