Can't get hoover the forced accents

Good effort. Not a bad storyline but there's just so much foreshadowing. It's set and filmed in South Africa, so why the fake American "rarr rarr" accents. If you're South African you'd know. This is the accent we do when we want to sound"proper". And the African guys with Russian names? It feels like they were trying to make a Hollywood movie, but with SA actors and surroundings.

South Africa's Female John Wick

The film has fantastic visual effects, and breath taking action sequences. Jessica Brok is the South African female John Wick. Can't wait for the next part of the instalment. The story isn't meant to be deep or to leave with you with a profound impression after it ends. There isn't much psychological exploration happening, which is what would have made this film a memorable one. But it does provide a good fun ride with plenty of thrills. There were some cringe moments, not because of the acting or production. It just doesn't hold off on showing people's heads being blown in two.

This is not a bad movie because it tries something bold.

Jessica Brok (Danica De La Rey Jones) is a retired special forces operative. During her final mission years ago, her team was lured into a deadly trap by Lazar Ipacs (Richard Lukunku). Most of her unit was killed, as was Lazar's brother, an event that pushed Jessica into retirement. Fourteen years later, now living quietly in Africa with her daughter, Jessica becomes the target of Lazar's revenge when his team tracks her down. This is a movie that takes over two hours to tell a very simple story: a hunt. And not a particularly special one. If this had been a tight, well-executed action thriller, the runtime might have worked. But as it stands, and IMDb ratings seem to agree, this is a very average five. The acting is the film's biggest weakness. The performances are on the level of late-career Bruce Willis "cash-grab" movies or Eric Roberts' endless straight-to-streaming output: quantity over quality. The hunters constantly talk about how skilled and dangerous they are, yet somehow never manage to actually shoot to kill. They shoot to miss, give long villain monologues and are then conveniently taken out moments later. The film frequently drifts into the unbelievable. Jessica is shot clean through the leg with an arrow, drinks some water, wraps a ribbon around it and continues as if nothing happened. Even Daniel survives beatings and gunshots with little consequence, as if pain and injury are optional in this universe.Richard Lukunku's portrayal of Lazar doesn't help. His performance is cartoonish and oddly theatrical. He repeatedly addresses Jessica by name in an exaggerated way, as if performing on stage. In a real hunt, especially one where roles keep reversing, this behavior would disappear quickly. Here, it just undercuts any sense of threat. That said, if you're not looking for realism, depth or strong performances and just want something to half-watch with friends while having a few laughs, this movie might do the trick. Just don't expect tension, logic, or memorable characters. This is not a bad movie because it tries something bold. It's bad because it settles for mediocrity and never rises above it.
