Hit and miss

The movie is mainly carried by Dharmendra sir and Jaideep sir. Sriram Raghavan tried something different but couldn't fully justify it. The screenplay and dialogue timing feel weak. The climax is the best part. Though marketed as a war film, it feels more like a drama, with war as a secondary element.

Take out the silly love story-waste of time

Just watched the movie. Choked seeing Dharmendra in his last role and as always he nailed it. Great actor right till the end. Every single frame, every single diagolue felt emotional. He will be greatly missed.Honestly wanted to skip every single part with the love angle. Did not connect to it. Should have been kept very brief and focus kept on the main theme. Found it quite annoying also that Agastya's character does not remember his mum or dad during his time in the Army. It was almost like they ceased to exit.As for the movie, apart from the unnecessary bits, it takes you on an emotional ride. It tries to convey a message of heroism but great loss to everyone involved due to war. As someone who is extremely anti-war, this did strike a chord and the human cost of war is horrific.Agastya did a fine and believable job. Bear in mind it is only his second film. Simar's speech delivery was pretty poor and in no angle did she look like an 18/19 year old when they first meet in the movie.Overall, if you are anti-war and just wish people would just stop spreading hatred and being divisive and learn to live respectfully with each other and our differences. Peace and harmony.

Technically well-made but keeps hitting you with its message incessantly

The movie is well-made technically in terms of direction, screenplay, cinematography, dialogue and and mostly acting too.The weight of the acting lies mostly on Dharam ji and Jaideep Ahlawat. Agastya Nanda's acting chops as the main lead is just about tolerable in his first theatrical release. He is a pretty boy fair face and has a limited set of only 2-3 expressions. The actress who is also debuting, is good looking, but that's it. (In my head, I am comparing the leads here with the leads in Saiyaara who were phenomenal in their debut movie).Music is not at all memorable. It's been 4 hours since I left the theatre, and I can't remember a single dialogue or song from the movie. The only thing I will remember this movie for is Dharam ji's last appearance in a movie in a significant role. He and Jaideep get about half the screen time. Now on to the clear negative in my opinion: the movie consistently keeps on hammering the main message of the movie i.e. War is bad; India and Pakistan are same; both countries are responsible for all their wars; all pakistanis including army men, intelligent people and civilians are the nicest people in the world; Indian army was the belligerent; ISI agents are harmless buffoons; Arun Khetrapal was a hot-headed stubborn idiot who didn't know when to stop.I don't begrudge the director their message, but the frequency and the blatancy of it, where almost every dialogue from the mouths of Jaideep and Dharam ji is tailored to convey this message, and their scenes take up about half of the runtime of this movie, is what made it the movie very annoying at times.Summary: One time watch, if you can tolerate the above message hammered repeatedly in your head. The only thing that I'll remember this movie for is Dharam ji's last appearance in a major role in a movie.
