i think that this movie is great. its laugh to you cry funny. its highly recommended if you want to laugh! 5 out of 4. Other great stand up from John L. are: Mambo Mouth, Spic-o-Rama(he dresses for each of his character that he mentions), and Freak. All of his comedies are based on his "family background" He tells the story about how his family met to how he was brought up. this stand up comedy is not the best of all his film works but its a lot better then the Latin kings of comedy or the Latinpalooza! This i can can say with out a doubt. Buy it, borrow it, steal it, do what you have to do to get a hold of this film you will enjoy it and want to watch it again and again guaranteed.

john leguizamo is one talented man!

john leguizamo doesn't need anybody to write a script for him. that would be a step down. his hbo special was one of the funniest things i have ever seen. it reminded me of eddie murphy's "delirious." john's amazing comedic talent was only a few steps ahead of his mad dancing skills. one of the many things i loved about the whole production was his ability to make a joke at his own expense. nothing was held back and that's what i enjoyed most.

Well-written and well-performed

More than a stand-up comedy show, this is the story of John's love life with funny moments and charming moments. Either John is borrowing a little bit from Rodney Dangerfield's self-depreciating "no respect" comedy or he's willing to tell it like it is. I suspect the latter.John is a very talented guy. He takes on the roles of everyone in his story: his grandparents, parents, his friends and past lovers. Each character is performed with seemingly easy precision.Watching this show, it was easy to see why the man has fans. He is deserving of them. Not only can he tell an incredible story of self-discovery, but he does so with wit, charm and heart.
