The Gambler - the adventure continues

When Brady's son Jeremiah is kidnapped by a vicious gang, the gambler (Kenny Rogers) and his sidekick Billy Montana (Bruce Boxleitner) saddle up to rescue him. With the aid of the quickdrawing Kat Muldoon (Linda Evans), a bounty hunter, the stakes couldn't be higher. Will this pair of aces with a queen kicker come out on top?The first one was more story-orientated and had a relaxed atmosphere, its sequel, however, is more punchier with more action, a more hectic plot and great Arizonan scenery. It isn't stuck on a train. It's quite fun and colourful, however it gets a bit muddled at times with so many things happening. The performances are grand - Kenny Rogers is his assured self with plenty of words of wisdom, Linda Evans is a scene stealer as the lady bounty hunter and Bruce Boxleitner is thick as two planks yet helpful. Good entertainment with plenty of twists and turns, especially with Linda Evans in tow. She's one duplicitous lady.

better scenery, more action, and a greater sense of adventure

The Gambler: The Adventure Continues (1983) is a highly enjoyable follow-up that builds nicely on what made the original so memorable, while actually improving on it in a few key ways. Kenny Rogers once again slips effortlessly into the role of Brady Hawkes, bringing the same laid-back charm, quiet confidence, and moral backbone that fans loved the first time around. What really sets this sequel apart is the scenery. The locations feel broader, richer, and more cinematic, giving the story a stronger sense of adventure and movement. The sweeping landscapes and frontier settings add visual depth that makes the film feel bigger and more immersive than the original. The action is also a step up. While it never loses its character-driven focus, The Adventure Continues delivers more fun and engaging fight scenes, adding extra excitement without overshadowing the storytelling. These moments give the film a livelier pace and make Brady Hawkes' journey even more entertaining to watch.
