Is there really a plot?

Filmed in the Italian Alps, the scenery is spectacular, and it seemed very clear that it was filmed in winter. I don't think any of the snow was artificial. It is necessary to pay attention, and it is in subtitles, so expect to miss a lot. Lana is a police investigator, who is on the trail a missing girl. In the small town, she seems to uncover more than she expected, but her boss isn't really interested in following up her leads, as he says they amount to nothing. But she keeps pleading for more time. And among a group of rather unpleasant men, there is talk about a handover which intrigues her. If one likes movies with smoking, there is a lot, as almost everyone smokes. The ending really wraps things up, but one really is almost required to know a lot of history to make sense of things. And that history is related to the first scene. They throw in a mysterious 'bear' in the forest that kills. It really seems a movie without a plot until the end.

Snowy deception

(2014)The Ice forest/ La foresta di ghiaccio MYSTERY DRAMACo-written and directed by Claudio Noce which opens with a young child asked to run away from what I assumed was his father in the dark snow before the movie jumps 20 years later. And that young child grows up to be Pietro (Domenico Diele) or as the boss, Lorenzo (Adriano Giannini) who employs him calls him "Grease monkey" since he has a knack for repairing things that involve motors and so forth. Meanwhile, what it looked like was a female reporter, Lana (Kseniya Rappoport) is attempting to gather some evidence for from a guy name Secondo (Emir Kusturica) the owner of the power plant located high at the snowy alps and was given three more days to track down some evidence regarding criminal wrong doing involving migrants.

Gone

No pun intended - sometimes when you are new somewhere, you may not know how things work out. Same is true for our main character - all grown up from the first time we see him in the beginning. This mystery thriller may not be everyones cup of tea and it really is not fast paced (which already is on the losing side with some viewers because of that). So if you watch the first 10 minutes and are still interested .. watch on, otherwise do not.The acting is good enough, but there may be some choices (more character based) that may be tough to swallow. The movie makes sense overall though, don't let (character) decisions cloud that. Decent enough movie, for those interested in the genre.
