women's role in conflict

The film describes several arab conflicts from the 1900s, and how they may have been affected by the females directly or indirectly. There's a museum exhibit describing the history of conflict in palestine and lebanon. When the wife asks the man why there are no women in the photos, he states that women just weren't involved. So we go on a real or imagined journey of all the ways that the women really did assist in the struggles. We see the women showing how to grind the bullets to fit in the guns. And where the new batch of guns will be. Smuggling ammunition in food. Lots of actual footage, some of which seems to be from world war II, in germany. And a mix of actual battle, as well as some re-enactments in the various arab conflicts. Interesting discussion in one of the critic reviews stating that when certain soldiers saw the (now restored) film, they don't have the same anger at their perceived enemies that they had before seeing the film. Interesting stuff. Some slow intervals. Some less than stellar acting. Certainly interesting to history buffs. The modern-day scenes in the house and at the beach only added to the confusion. Were those to illustrate the women's traditional standing in society? Mostly good film, overall. Confusing at times, for those not familiar with the specific battles. Written and directed by heiny srour.
