Plot summary

Somewhere between Montmartre and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny lean over a large white sheet of paper and bring to life a mischievous and endearing boy, Little Nicolas. From schoolyard games and fights to summer camp pranks and camaraderie, Nicolas lives a merry and enriching childhood – and brings friendship and newfound life to his creators, too.

Heartwarming biopic that was told in a creative way

I chose this movie without knowing what this was all about. I have no idea who, or what, little Nicholas was because I didn't read any of the story. I decided to watch because I love the art style of the animation.I just realized it is a biopic in the middle of the movie.It is such a good movie to watch on your weekend. The vibe is giving nostalgic, warmth, and... I don't know, maybe the longing to someone you really care about. You know it's good movie when someone like me, who didn't know there is a popular literature called little Nicholas, gets nostalgic feeling.Though I hope they show deeper about the life of the authors, but it's still well crafted. Maybe it is really intended to be more like a tribute from Sempé to Goscinny. I also actually hope there is more flow and strong connection between the story of little Nicholas and the life of the authors.Overall, it is such a fun way to tell a biopic. They successfully translate the feeling between two friends as the authors of famous literature.

A happy hour movie

This is a biographical movie speaking about the Petit Nicolas's creators, Rene Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempe. Its script is not heavy and the design is simple and beautiful, reminiscent of the original illustrations Sempe used to make for the series of the little hero. It lacks the strong messages that one may look for in the movie, especially considering its title, but it's still pleasant to watch, if you want to spend a happy hour. This is a beautiful movie, which will be enjoyed the most by children from 8 to 16. It can remind us that life can be beautiful if we forgive just like children do.
