A Poignant Portrait of Istanbul Cat and a Republic Woman

This film beautifully captures the essence of Istanbul's refinement, portraying it with remarkable detail. Thanks to Yildiz Kenter's outstanding performance, the atmosphere and the spirit of the Republican-era woman are conveyed to the audience flawlessly. The music elevates the film into a true Turkish masterpiece - featuring works by legendary Turkish composers as part of the soundtrack. Since the protagonist is a piano teacher, we are often treated to these pieces, each played at the perfect moment to reflect the emotion of the scene.With its heavy drama and structure, the film sometimes brings the audience into a somber mood, yet it also demonstrates how even a cat can take center stage when placed in the right narrative. The cat's "performance" is surprisingly moving, reminding us why Istanbul is often called the city of cats. As a cat owner myself, many scenes resonated with me on a deeply emotional level.If you're looking for something lighthearted or uplifting, this is certainly not the film for you. But if you appreciate strong storytelling, meaningful dialogue, and emotional impact, this is a powerful and deeply affecting work of Turkish cinema.

Good.

This film is like a short story you read on a quiet and calm autumn day. You understand what the film promises from the first minute, and it delivers what it promises. I think it has aged well. This movie can be a good accompaniment when you feel in the same mood.I'm not sure what else I should say, so... I would have liked Olcay and Necip to talk more, but this is not a big shortcoming in my opinion, in fact it makes one's heart sink even more at the end of the movie. In conclusion, I liked it and as I said, I will watch it again sometime. (Why is it so difficult to reach the required characters)
