Beautiful

I watched Matter of Time and it truly moved me. It's powerful, eye-opening, and honestly something everyone should watch. It offers real perspective on epidermolysis bullosa, a rare disease many people don't know about, and highlights the strength, resilience, and hope behind this community. I love it.

Fragile Wings, Unbreakable Spirit: A Vital Look at EB

As a long-time Pearl Jam fan, I have been aware of Eddie and Jill Vedder's philanthropic efforts to find a cure for epidermolysis bullosa (EB) for years. I knew it was a rare genetic disorder that made the skin and mucous membranes incredibly fragile, but my understanding was academic at best.Through their awareness campaigns over the last decade, I had a limited grasp of the stress and pain EB patients face. From photos on the band's website, I could see the physical toll of this relatively unknown condition. However, it wasn't until I sat down with my wife to watch Matter of Time that I truly grasped the impact of these disorders. It was a sobering look at families who wake up every morning to face grueling challenges with little hope for treatment, let alone a cure. This documentary combines footage from Vedder's 2023 EB fundraising concerts in Seattle with intimate interviews from patients and parents. It serves as more than just an educational tool; it provides an unfiltered look at the trauma and resilience of those living with EB.With the condition affecting roughly 1 in 50,000 children, watching the subjects endure their symptoms is truly heartbreaking. Despite yearning for a "normal" life, these children and young adults embody true strength as they fight a constant battle they never asked for. As you watch each family detail their highs and lows, it is difficult to fight back tears born from a sense of helplessness. But that is exactly why this film is so important-not only for the EB community but for all medical conditions that often go unnoticed. We don't have to feel helpless. While most of us don't have a platform as large as the Vedders', we all have the ability to do something to spark change. That is the underlying theme this film so elegantly shines a light on.The film notes that children with EB are often called "Butterfly Children" because their skin is as fragile as a butterfly's wings. But as the documentary highlights, those wings are also incredibly strong, allowing them to navigate a difficult world with grace.Ultimately, Matter of Time proves that one small step toward making a difference in the life of someone with a chronic illness can lead to compelling results. We are the ones who must initiate the move toward change.

Must see!

Emotional. Inspirational. Heartbreaking. What a mix of emotions watching this movie. I love PJ, and Eddie deliver a powerful performance, not only as a musician, but as a human being. Jill and Eddie are an inspiring couple, but the parents, the doctors, and the kids in this movie show what true resilience looks like. We need more movies like this that show the good side of people working together. I took my best friend to this in WI and we didn't quite know what to expect, but then the lights came on and we realized that the CEO of EBR, some of the parents and kids that were featured in this movie were in the audience with us. What an experience!
