Great movie - worth the time! from a student

As a college student in the process of applying to university next year: i loved this Movie! The camera angles, music and cast choices as well as written plot are great - the movie despite being both a horror/comedy managed to convey a sense of fear. I feel other viewers comments on this movie which are lower than this fail to grasp many key concepts on what makes a enjoyable movie, the writing, production and acting meet these standards.For example the scene depicting the Otaku character (O) was pressing his ear to the camera and a ghost appears in an unusual and striking manner. This delivered a sense of fear, another well-executed scene where the character Quan pie fell down the stairs was very comedic.The opening and ending tie well with the story - the cast overall did a good execution. The editing and production overall is great, i am aware this was released in 2016 and i am writing this review in 2025! Great movie would watch again.

Semi-boring horror comedy...

I stumbled upon the 2016 Thai horror comedy "Mahalai Tiang Kuen" (aka "Midnight University") here in 2022. And even without ever having heard about the movie, of course I opted to sit down and watch it, as I do enjoy Asian movies. And with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I sat down to watch it.Directors Piyabutr Athisuk, Kritsada Kaniwichaphon and Kanin Kulsumitrawong didn't really manage to churn out an overly interesting horror comedy. I found the storyline to be rather poorly written and it was just lacking elements that would interest me, so it was a tedious movie to sit through.The movie was rather devoid of comedy, so that was somewhat disappointing. And the horror elements are light, so don't expect to be scared off of the edge of your seat.The acting performances in "Mahalai Tiang Kuen" were adequate, despite the fact that the actors and actresses had little to work with in terms of a proper script and storyline.If you enjoy Asian horror comedies, then "Mahalai Tiang Kuen" is not really a particularly great option. It is something you watch once, and then never return to watch ever again.My rating of "Mahalai Tiang Kuen" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
