There was a desire somewhere in me to feel like Lycett's snarky schtick had become old-hat when I went into his self-published show from recently but actually as always he still manages to deftly undercut any cynicism by being boldly joyous and authentically anarchic. Captured in his home city and, like most of his output post pandemic, it's a love letter to Brum as well as heartfelt endorsement for acts of community engagement, local creativity and pride pride pride. What being proud actually is getting out into the world, getting into the fiddly awkward stuff and actually creating things and in that simple truth the show ends up finding itself somewhere tremendously profound, all whilst continuing to be ...well yes, quite snarky. Fair play and a remarkable achievement, both inside and outside the night itself.

Funny and heart warming from Joe Lycett

This is a video recorded at the Birmingham leg on comedian Joe Lycett's 2022 touring stand up show. This is Joe's home town crowd as he even used to sell ice cream at the theatre. Probably.I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it however I am glad I watched as it is laugh out loud funny.Joe is a very clever man who weaves some fabulously funny anecdotes which he recounts using multi media. He lives in Kings Heath in Birmingham and many of the stories are things that happened during the very weird lockdown times.I don't want to spoil it for you but the closing finale made me happy and proud too.

Just a creep in strange clothes, nothing more.

I hated every minute of this trainwreck of a so-called "standup" performance.First of all they released this low budget, B-category, VIDEO standup (not TV special) on streaming services as a new content ONLY because Lycett nowadays appeared in "LOL: Last One Laughing UK", and they instantly wanted to release something with this guy to show everybody: he's indeed a famous comedian and he deserved to be a contestant in LOL UK.Well, after watching this awful cr*p of a so-called standup from this guy, I have to say I'm not convinced at all. Actually I hate him even more and I consider him even LESS funny.This standup is outrageous, disgusting, distasteful, irritating and unfunny at the same time.98% of the jokes are old, corny, lame.99% of the jokes are just plain disgusting for the sake of being disgusting.The reason of I felt disgusted: Because this guy totally overdoes, overacts the fact that he's being gay. I'm not homophobic. I like a lot of gay/lesbian comedians. For example Ellen DeGeneres. She's hilarious, she's likable and a very cute person. There's nothing wrong about her, and especially there's nothing disgusting about her.But Joe Lycett spends 99% on stage by acting like a creep, he's like "perv uncle" who everybody hates because the only thing that makes him happy is when he can shock/freak out other people with disgusting/tasteless jokes.I found this standup performance so tasteless, the performer very disturbing in so many ways, that I had to stop watching the movie after about 20 minutes, because I felt angry, disgusted and insulted.I think this man shouldn't perform anything live and shouldn't do ANYTHING in the comedy scene, because he's a very dislikeable person and to say it plainly:He's not funny enough to be a comedian.He's just a creep in strange clothes, nothing more.
