Good idea

Pheobe (Kansas Bowling) is cast in an aerobics video but she's unhappy with how everyone is acting. Isn't this a serious workout video? Then why is everyone acting so sexy on camera, like Candy (Jessica Flux), Nikki (Adriana Uchishiba), Monique (Victoria Dementieva) and Cassandra (Krystal Shay)? Oh Pheobe, don't you realize you're in a movie that started with a shower scene and a murder?The whole video is the brainchild of Dominica Stromboli (Ginger Lynn!) and her husband Frankie (Josh Parks), who are making the video to find something to keep their daughter Isabella (Nina Lanee Kent) out of trouble. But when Candy pushes Phoebe too far, heads - and all manner of other body parts - are going to roll.Murdercise might not replace Killer Workout and Death Spa in your rotation of 80s workout slashers but if it was made in 1986, it would have definitely played USA Up All Night. That's a compliment. But this is an indie movie on a small budget, albeit one made by people obviously having a blast making it. That said, if you watched late night cable horror or rented every slasher that came out on the mid 80s, well, you'll love every wacky minute of this.

Homage to 1980's fitness horror comedies

Apparently this film is loosely based around and paying homage to those fitness, gym horror/slasher comedy films such as Killer Workout and Death Spa. Given the premise, the story is essentially the same but for the newer generation. Once the story begins we are introduced to the characters and as it plays along, we see how the first kill occurs (the audience knows the killer but the characters are oblivious).Nothing quite funny in this film but it's enjoyable to a degree. It is of course predictable and does include several mandatory skin scenes. The film goes downhill once the cops arrive at the scene. Trying a little to be funny which falls flat. From there scenes just occur to pass time as the inevitable turn of a full slasher occurs.

A fun '80s throwback.

Murdercise is a fun '80s style horror comedy. It revolves around a film crew and a group of ladies filming an exercise video. Candy (Jessa Flux) is the CoverGirl for the exercise tape. There's a wide assortment of women in the tape. There's a mobsters daughter, strippers, and the straight laced Phoebe (Kansas Bowling).Phoebe objects to the behavior of the other women. She's basically a goody goody type. When she has a run in with Candy, she ends up killing her. One by one the cast shrinks as they meet their demise at the hands of Phoebe. Who eventually works her way to being the new covergirl.Murdercise is a fun horror comedy, probably my favorite film of 2023.The cast is pretty solid. Former adult film star Ginger Lynn Allen is in the cast. There's August Kyss, and Kansas Bowling. The real highlights of the cast are Drew Marvick (Chuck) and Jessa Flux (Candy). Mr. Marvick steals the show as a the goofy Chuck. I don't know where to begin with Jessa Flux. Although her character was killed off within the first 30 minutes, she's probably really increased her fan base just from this film alone. She's one of the hardest working women in the indie horror circuit. I have a feeling we're going to be talking about her for years to come. She's quickly on her way to being a major scream queen.
