Slow to Start

Takes him a while to get going. He starts off by establishing quite a bit about himself which is interesting but not quite enough funny and isn't particularly relevant to the rest of his set. Feels a bit under polished.From there is moves into a sort of "kids today" scenario from the perspective of a childless early millennia. Will be more interesting to see how he's coming at that when he's got a a few years or child rearing behind him.Funny stuff though. Worth the watch to see a up and coming that's a bit outside the norm.

Hilarious and Original

My wife and I are huge fans of standup comedy. We talk about how comedians are modern prophetic voices and they can use their voices for good or evil. Derrick Stroup is one who is using his for good. He has such an original take on life and he is just so fun to listen to. A lot of comedians right now are choosing sides and it is hard to avoid that, but Derrick has created something really special with his stand-up. You can be from any walk of life and have any viewpoint and he speaks to you. And that I believe is the mark of a truly great comedian.

Clean Comedy

I believe this was the first comedian I've heard that never used a curse word in his act. The closest was "hand job". Some interesting comparisons between Alabama and New York City.Stories about being a kid in the '90's and the games you played or ones you made up. Also getting to school either by the school bus or car and what you learned on the bus.This was a fun watch!
