A Quiet, Courageous Film That Stays With You

This film affected me more deeply than I expected. transphobia based on ignorance

Ljósvíkingar is a sweet little film from Iceland about transphobia based on ignorance. True, Iceland has been one of the most LGBTQ accepting countries for decades, but it looks like for an average ignorant person accepting transgender people is far more difficult than homosexuality, and even that is easier "if it's not your son". So the film is focused exactly on that, the main character being not the LGBTQ person but the transphobic one, the one that needs to understand things and undergo a transformation. Apart from that, the film praises family values alongside the national and cultural legacy, which can happily coexist with understanding and acceptance.
