For the family including children

Great American Family is the network this premiered on and they make it a goal to have movies that are family friendly. I got the definite impression that this movie is aimed at appealing to a younger crowd perhaps even small children. As one reviewer points out, the American child stole the show. The ending was predictable but it was juvenile as well.Too much screen time was spent in the evil reporter's hunt for Charlotte. I have nothing against his search for a story, but all of his questions were prejudicial and accusative.Still, Charlie and Luke had plenty of screen time and connected well together.As an adult watching this alone, I found it not to be overly appealing, but for a family with children I would add a star or 2.

Plenty of Potential, but Falls Short

A tried and true premise for the Christmas movie genre is the Prince or Princess who suddenly needs a break from his/her royal life of privilege and seeks to escape to blend in with "regular folk" while remaining entirely anonymous. This particular one is nothing new and is generally unremarkable.Sadly, there's no real spark between the lead characters which is surprising given the number of times they get time alone together and seemingly unlimited conversation.As a number of other reviewers have commented, the little nine year-old girl is truly something else! She was a joy to watch and I look forward to seeing her continue to develop her craft as she grows up. Because of her performance, alone, I gave this movie 5 stars instead of the 3 that it deserved.
