Plot summary

An aspiring astronomy professor finds unexpected Christmas romance when she meets a charming cowboy during her holiday travel. As she decides between this new cowboy and her practical boyfriend, she must decide whether it's better to play it safe in love, or let an adventurous cowboy steal her heart.

Not too bad

The movie definitely had some issues that others have addressed -- such as the problem of Chicago versus Texas in the future. Whether the future works out for the two or not, the best thing I took from the movie was it made her admit to what she really wanted -- a relationship more like her parents. Where the spouse or significant other was of major importantance. Making her realize how ridiculous her "boyfriend" was/is is a worthwhile outcome for the movie, whether she ends up with the cowboy or just an awareness of what she really needs and wants.Seeing how totally inconsiderate the boyfriend is and how totally "unaware" he is of a girl he has supposedly been with for 3 years made it nice to see her break up with him. Would have been even better if she had turned him down in front of the crowd, but her character was apparently too nice to do that -- even though he was NOT too nice to do it in the first place. All these movies tend to have a ridiculous "boyfriend" who is jerk or just not a right fit, but this guy was a complete piece of crap. Everything was about him and what he wanted and when he wanted it. Definitely needed a major smackdown.
