Not your "typical Dutch k*tfilm"

I saw one of the reviews about how Dutch films are often badly acted and the writing is 'off', making conversations akward. I normally agree, I don't enjoy Dutch films and series in general. But in this case absolutely not. The first Dutch film in years I actually loved. Beautiful scenery, natural writing and good acting, especially Noortje Herlaar and Fedja van Huet. You can feel the tensions building so subtle and strong. Well done!

Slow

Hard watch. Took 3 business days to watch the first 30 minutes. After that I just put it on as a background movie, it all went very slow. Though the plottwist and dilemma made it still worth the watch. And the character development was also okay. I had high expectations at first so I am a bit dissapointed though.

Unbelievable story and mediocre acting

Overall, I did enjoy the film, but several elements feel very implausible. While the central concept is original, it is largely inconsistent with how organ transplantation works in reality. Organ donors-especially heart donors-are strictly anonymous, and organs are allocated through centralized waiting lists based on medical urgency and compatibility. A direct, one-to-one heart donation between friends, as depicted in the film, is therefore not possible and exists precisely to avoid the ethical and emotional conflicts shown on screen.In addition, the premise of two families living together in a single, isolated house in the mountains stretches credibility and feels unnecessarily contrived.The acting, particularly in the opening scenes, comes across as surprisingly amateurish, which is striking given that the lead actors are well-known and experienced figures within the Dutch film industry. Van Huet's role is also portrayed in a rather passive and complacent way, particularly given the gravity of the situation.
