Plot summary

It was okay...

Oddly I've never seen this sixth movie in the franchise before now in 2025, as I was having a "Police Academy" movie marathon. So I was actually a bit thrilled to get a chance to watch this movie for the first time.Writers Neal Israel, Pat Proft and Stephen Curwick put together a fair and enjoyable script. It is a storyline that definitely embodies the essence and spirit of "Police Academy". There are some good laughs to be enjoyed throughout the course of the 83 minutes that the movie ran for.Of course it was nice to have a lot of the cast members from the original movies return to reprise their characters and roles, but let's be honest here, the movie just isn't fully a "Police Academy" movie without Mahoney and Zed. This sixth movie has Bruce Mahler and Billie Bird returning to reprise former roles, so that was a nice thing. The acting performances in the movie were good, as they havve been all throughout all previous movies as well."Police Academy 6: City Under Siege" certainly is watchable and entertaining enough for what it is, and it does fit well into the franchise. Personally, I just think it is a shame that Mahoney and Zed aren't in the story, as they were key characters in the first movies.My rating of director Peter Bonerz's 1989 movie "Police Academy 6: City Under Siege" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Still fun

If you laughed at the fact that Pete Bonerz directed this movie, then this is the movie for you.This time, Harris and Proctor must work with the good guys to apprehend the Mastermind, whose gang is running wild all over town. Bonus points to him for getting Gerrit Graham (Terrorvision, Phantom of the Paradise) to join up!Commandant Lassard (George Gaynes) assembles his finest men and women for the case, including Hightower (Bubba Smith), Tackleberry (David Graf), Jones (Michael Winslow), Hooks (Marion Ramsey), Callahan (Leslie Easterbrook), Fackler (Bruce Mahler), and Mahoney replacement and his nephew, Nick (Matt McCoy).Billie Byrd is in this, but she's playing a totally different role and not Mrs. Feldman, so if you demand continuity in your 80's comedies, you're out of luck.That is, however, Grandmaster Melle Mel in this. And Allison Mack, the one-time Smallville actress who charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy as part of her role in the NXIVM sex cult. Who would have guessed?The following year Paul Maslansky would produce Ski Patrol, which he had hoped would replace Police Academy and have several sequels. It failed, as did this movie. There wouldn't be another Police Academy film for five more years.
