A worthy addition to the Cursed Films genre

Posthouse: Filipino Horror Film. Cyril is a troubled and unsatisfied film editor working on commercials, he lives in the shadow of his great-grandfather who directed the first (silent) Filipino horror film in 1927. It was never finished but his father tried to restore it. Now Cyril inherits the reels but one seems to be missing, His daughter, Rea, a film student arrives at the studio and this seems to be an ideal opportunity to work on the project. This might well be a cursed film though, deaths and disaster stretching back to the 1940s are associated with it, Cyril's mother was murdered in a home invasion and he has strange memories, thinking he may have seen a creature at the time. The manananggal is a mythical creature in the Philippines that is able to separate its upper torso from the lower part of its body. Their fangs and wings give them a vampire-like appearance. We see it in the recovered sections of the old film, attacking its victims. Now as Cyril and Rea work on the film, the demon seems to emerge and attack people. The horror here is largely psychological but there are some gory and violent terrifying scenes. Flashbacks are important to the unfolding of the narrative, explaining the nature of Cyrils and his father's obsessions. It is important to pay close attention to what is happening as the storyline can be confusing at times. An Angry Ghost or an actual demon or maybe madness brought on by possession, there are several possible interpretations of events. This is a work of fiction but there is a real life lost film: Manananggal (1927), directed by José Nepomuceno, was the first-ever Filipino horror film. It is a silent film starring Mary Walter portraying the manananggal, with the upper torso detaching. Little is known of the film's plot. Posthouse is no classic but it is a worthy addition to the Cursed Film genre. On Netflix. Directed by Nikolas Red in his film directorial debut, co-written by Red, Jericho Aguado and Kenneth Dagatan. 7.5/10.

Waste of time !

Not a damn clue as to what the whole story is about. The so called "horror" well it s as good as a Pathetic joke. You would get better visuals on cartoons!The director seems to be completely lost so are the characters. The conversations, the acting, the expressions : nothing about it seemed like a horror film.
