Plot summary

Five ordinary teens must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Not bad, but not great.

Acting is a little overdone, but then again so was the original. As a person who grew up with the show when it first aired, this rendition is meant to be another genesis story. Provide a little more background and bring it up to today's technological specs. While I think it tried too hard and perhaps did try to take itself a bit too seriously, if you come in with an open mind about it, you'll be somewhat surprised and may find that you enjoy it. I found that the camera angles and cinematography was okay, but it had moments where it felt very cheesy. If they could have picked up a really good director for action / sci-first (eg Whedon), we could have had a really excellent and fun movie. Alas, it falls slightly short of good. If you're looking for a bit of a campy movie with some good cheese factor, check it out. Otherwise, perhaps pass this one up.

Very odd, slow to start and unoriginal

The movie starts very slow. And is a case of everything they do magically works in their favour. Spoilers!!In the first 45 minutes we see a bunch of different kids stumble across some stones, then make the cafeteria food and drink explode, jump 60 metres then coincidentally one falls into this big lagoon type thing in a cave and again, It works out for them finding this big alien ship. If you are expecting anything like the original power rangers you will be very badly let down.
