This shouldve been an email...

...and not an entire movie! The fact it was faith based isnt my thing, and had I known it was a push for that mega church pastors book - i wouldnt have watched it. But marketing was smart getting Method Man and Kelly Rowland to star in it...cause HE was my draw! Lol. Their chemistry was non existent, the storyline was basic, and rhe acting was God awful...im sorry. This just didnt land like I thought it would.

An infomercial for Pastor Mike Todd's Book

Converting books to movies is a delicate art. You never want the movie to sound like a constant infomercial for the book. Unfortunately, that's how this one comes across. It's trying to be "Think Like a Man" but it just doesn't come off as smoothly. The friends are unnecessary fluff because they don't have real, fully developed storylines. If you're going to put other folks in films for diversity, at least make them well-rounded characters.Then there's too much of the cutesy music and predictable banter for it to really be a top rated rom com that anyone will watch more than once. And speaking of the music, too many films in the last several years targeting Black audiences only focus on raiding the 90s R&B crates with awesome background music that gives us the feels. YES we love all the songs from the '90s but that does NOT a great film make! This is what gets people confused at Oscars time lol. The film needs to have ACTUAL SUBSTANCE and the soundtrack is NOT that substance.On the positive side, this film has an excellent cast. It's just unfortunate that the screenplay relied too heavily on their presence instead of giving them decent material to work with.The best thing I can say is that Method Man is absolutely gorgeous and Kelly Rowland is beautiful (even with the embarrassingly awful Orange cake makeup they buried her face in).
