Down a touch on the last couple

I do love Ricky, however this wasn't up to the usual (admittedly extremely high) standard of the last few specials.Having said that, it was very good and I'm clearly marking it harsher based on how excellent the previous ones were. I think the biggest cheer was when he referenced the Golden Globes and told another story, but then that was a story that we mostly already were familiar with.Anyway, it sounds like I'm complaining but I'm not.

How many comics still burn bright into their 60's?

The late Norm MacDonald was one of them but it's a vanishingly-small club, and it doesn't diminish what they achieved when they were younger. Chris Rock was a genius whose early shows will always be up there with the greatest ever, but we all know his finest work isn't ahead of him.Ricky's achievements will ensure his legacy is set in stone, but it's pretty obvious he's repeating himself and the well is drying up. It's not a terrible show, it's just that you've seen it before and he's done it much better.Maybe he'll surprise us and come at it all from a whole new angle but whatever - if you want to see him at the height of his powers, it's all there in the early shows.

Some good bits but nothing spectacular

I really enjoyed Ricky Gervais's earlier stand-up specials. Shows like Animals and Science had a freshness and wit that made me want to revisit them multiple times. Unfortunately, his more recent Netflix specials haven't had the same rewatch value for me. This one is possibly an improvement over the last, but overall it's not bad-just not especially great either.
