Good premise, sadly unbelievable

As a horse lover, I was looking forward to this movie, but unfortunately some major aspects of the storyline didn't make sense and the acting was quite amateur in parts. In particular, if a seasoned soldier is killed while serving on a tour of duty in the military, why wasn't his wife receiving a regular pension when she would be eligible for benefits for both herself and their dependant school-age daughter? Also, if they were in dire financial straits, why didn't she get a job somewhere to help pay her debts?A minor bugbear was calling the white mare with brown splotches a 'white horse'. She was clearly an 'Appaloosa' as actual 'white' horses are very rare. I also wish the young girl had been taught how to dismount properly as the way she does it twice is dangerous as she could easily have caught her foot on the saddle instead of swinging her leg high over the horses rear-quarters in the usual manner.

Military Death Benefits?

The movie was okay. Slow moving. First, I wondered why Rebecca and Grace didn't have jobs. Second, shouldn't she have received a Military Death Benefit lump sum, and subsequent monthly payments? If that were the case, I can't believe that things would have been so dire.
