Nah...

While I had not heard about this 2025 movie titled "Rumpelstiltskin", from writer and director Andy Edwards, prior to sitting down to watch it, I have to admit that my love of all things horror made me decide to give the movie a fair chance. Sure, I wasn't exactly harboring the biggest of expectations to this movie, but I could be proven wrong.Sure, I was familiar with the tale that the movie is based upon, but I have to say that writer Andy Edwards's interpretation certainly wasn't a particularly great one, though it does follow the basic outline of the tale, but adds its own twist. In fact, I actually dozed off and fell asleep during the movie. Yeah, the narrative was not overly thrilling or engaging. One of the better things about "Rumpelstiltskin" was the fact that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. Yeah, I actually do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were fair. The special effects in "Rumpelstiltskin" were adequate, but nothing outstanding really.Semi-watchable, but hardly an outstanding foray into the horror movies based on established tales. My rating of writer and director Andy Edwards's 2025 movie "Rumpelstiltskin" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Worth a watch

This movie follows the basic Rumplestiltskin storyline but adds some details of its own. There is language throughout, suggested nudity, and dark themes. There are plot points that seemed forgotten after being brought up in the movie to never be discussed again.Cons: language throughout that fit and was not needed. Was obviously added for shock factor.no likeable characters in this movie.something was added to Rumples storyline that did not make sense and never gets any clarification.the movie ends abruptly, felt lacking, and too easy.Slight Spoiler! The king has a daughter towards the beginning of the film and is never mentioned again. It can be assumed that she was put to death, but would have been nice for some kind of mention.Pros: the sets and costumes looked great.Rumple looks decent. Some scenes he looks like he is done with CGI. Not sure if this was the case.some cool masks towards the end of the movie. They reminded me of scenes of Lord of Misrule. In the end, this was alright. I'm giving it 5 out of 10 stars.

You can hide a lot in darkness

With added softness to the focus and dark scenes, the production hides some shoddy props, but it cannot do the same for the directing and acting. This is not a mockbuster made as cheaply as possible, but it is certainly not polished, and it is lackluster. I cannot recommend that you watch it unless you have a particular fancy to this one fairytale character. Even then, it might be worth sitting out on.
